Circular Economy Idea Competition

The Circular Economy Idea Competition aims at encouraging the design and submission of Circular Economy principles based achievable ideas and solutions whose materialization contributes to accelerate its transition in Lisbon and TagusValley Region.

 

The competition is open to any individual or collective person. Either individual or teams applications (up to three members) will be accepted. Complete freedom of choice is given to participants on type of activities, scope, or business ideas submitted.

 

CCDR LVT is looking for business ideas still in formulation phase, with no need of business plan or company created at the time of the proposal submission.

Can I have access to a english version of the rules of contest?

Applications should be submitted either in Portuguese or English.

No, each participant can submit only one idea; no variants will be allowed.

How should I submit my application? The applications must be submitted until 17:00 hours on 30 October 2018, in CCDR LVT’s “Serviço de Expediente” located in Rua Alexandre Herculano, 37, 1250-009 Lisboa, in accordance with articles 10 and 14 of the Terms of Reference.

 

Applications can also be submitted by registered mail, to the same address, without indication of the sender. The receipt of the documents must, in any case, arrive by the deadline for the submission of applications.

The selection board will take into consideration the following criterion and weightings according to its respective factors:

 

a) Weighting of 10%: the Novelty of the idea, evaluating its innovation and valuing its disruptive feature: very high (20 points), high (15 points); reasonable (10 points), low (5 points) or non-existent (0 points);

 

b) Weighting of 40%: the idea’s Potential for accelerating the transition to a circular economy, evaluating its effects on the regional economy and valuing its merit: very high (20 points), high (15 points); reasonable (10 points), low (5 points) or non-existent (0 points);

 

c) Weighting of 30%: the idea’s economic viability, evaluating its economic viability potential on the regional economy and valuing its achievement ability: very high (20 points), high (15 points); reasonable (10 points), low (5 points) or non-existent (0 points);

 

d) Weighting of 20%: the idea’s Quality of Presentation, evaluating investors, companies, consumers or entities’ potential receptivity to it and valuing the form of communication: very high (20 points), high (15 points); reasonable (10 points), low (5 points) or nonexistent (0 points).

Proposals will be ranked according to the score obtained, which will be calculated by combining the weighted score attributed to each factor.

The three ideas selected for award will be the ones obtaining the best classification.

Tie-breaking criterion: in the event of two or more applications obtaining identical final scores, the winning application will be the one with the highest score in the Novelty of the idea factor. If the tie subsists, the winning application will be the one with the highest score in the Quality of Presentation factor. 

The first place will be awarded 8.000€ (eight thousand euros), the second place 3000€ (three thousand euros) and the third place 900€ (nine hundred euros).

The receipt of the awards shall be subject to  compliance with all applicable legal provisions, namely the presentation of the receipt.

There is no participation bonus. 

After assessing all the applications, the selection board will elaborate a final report , signed by all its members, which shall state:

a) The score and classification of the submitted and accepted design works, in accordance with the evaluation criterion set under these Terms of Reference;

b) The excluded applications and the reasons for their exclusion.

The score and the attribution of awards will be notified in writing simultaneously to all of the participants, together with the selection board’s final report.The results of the competition will be made available publicly on CCDR LVT site www.ccdr-lvt.pt.
